The Homestead

Empowering homeowners to make the most out of their property
Putting rental income in the hands of homeowners, not developers
Creating more sustainable cities through responsible development
Adding housing without displacing communities

Our Story

Homestead's founders met at MIT’s graduate School of Architecture and City Planning. Before founding Homestead, they worked in Beijing, Mexico City, Tokyo, and San Francisco at some of the best architecture firms in the world. Together they worked on affordable housing projects, developed new building technology for NASA, and collaborated on projects for the Center For Advanced Urbanism at MIT’s Media Lab.
We created Homestead to take on the burden of building an ADU—from financing, through design, construction and management. Our mission is to help homeowners build beautiful, affordable ADUs with the simplest possible process. We provide homeowners a clear path to financial stability, empowering them to solve California's housing crisis.
