We've given Alameda a C for its restrictive approach to the implementation of SB 9, which includes many regulations.
SB 9 is a state bill that was created to address California's housing crisis. It allows Californians more flexibility with their urban property than they've ever had before.

More about
Alameda
Residents of this Oakland suburb value their coastal town’s safe family-friendly atmosphere, beautiful beaches and weather, and close proximity to San Francisco. Visitors as well as locals love to ride bikes at Shoreline Park, explore the historic Meyers House and Garden, and try out their skills at the Pacific Pinball Museum. As is the case with most of the Bay Area, housing in Alameda is very expensive. We believe SB 9’s urban lot splits and duplexes will create more “missing middle” homes in the East Bay and throughout California.
