We've given Millbrae a C for its restrictive approach to the implementation of SB 9, which includes many regulations.

SB 9 is a state bill that was created to address California's housing crisis. It allows Californians more flexibility with their urban property than they've ever had before.

Option 1: Lot Split
Divide your lot into two parcels; building on the new lot is allowed
Your lot must be at least 2,400 sqft and can be divided 50/50 or 60/40

More about
Millbrae
Millbrae is a Bay Area suburb just close enough to San Francisco, with good public transit options, a friendly and diverse population, and great public schools. Anyone can enjoy strolling through Junipero Serra County Park, learning some local history at the Southern Pacific Train Depot, and attending the annual Art and Wine Festival. Like much of San Mateo County, homes are expensive and in low supply. We believe SB 9 can help by adding inventory and creating opportunities for renters and first-time home buyers to achieve their homeownership goals.
